Workshop Topics:
All topics below will be covered in each workshop by practical hands-on training:
Recombinant DNA Technology, PCR and SDS-PAGE (All techniques will be done real hands-on by each candidate):
1. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
2. Agarose gel electrophoresis of PCR product
3. SDS-PAGE electrophoresis of proteins
4. Coomassie staining of protein gel
5. Restriction digestion of DNA
6. Ligation of DNA
7. Agarose gel electrophoresis of digested and ligated DNA
8. Preparation of competent cells
9. Transformation of plasmid DNA into competent cells
10. Plating of transformed cells on LB Agar plates
11. Plasmid DNA isolation
12. Plasmid DNA agarose gel electrophoresis
13. DNA extraction from agarose gel
Bioinformatics tools for the above techniques:
1. DNA databases
2. Sequence Analysis: Pairwise sequence alignment, Multiple sequence alignment, BLAST tools
3. Designing of PCR primers,
4. Restriction analysis, restriction maps, plasmid maps,
5. Searching for homologous and paralogous sequences,
6. Promoter analysis,
7. Whole genome data visualisation: browsing human genomic data with the help of NCBI Genome viewer or UCSC Genome browser.
This workshop is designed for beginners of all ages who wants to become confidant in lab techniques. It is a real hands-on training on the topics mentioned. Major focus is on the lab practicals. It will be supported by lectures in such a manner that it would help a biologist to understand the bioinformatics tools helpful in the lab and a bioinformatics person to understand the practical biotech lab techniques.
Registration Fees (food & accommodation is not included):
Rs. 6000 + 18% GST Rs. 1080 (Total Rs. 7080). Same fees for International candidates.
Registration fee is non-refundable (because of limited seats to maintain the high quality of training). If seats are not available then it will be refunded. One time date change will be allowed under special circumstances.
